Hairspray (Johnny Attoms)
Hairspray is 14 yrs old. As a baby Johnny was abandoned in a
basket in Central Park, in NY. He was found by Nancy Attoms, a 50 yr old
department store sales clerk who was strolling in the park that day. Nancy was
never married and had always wanted a child. She thought that this was a
blessing in disguise and adopted Johnny.
Nancy works very hard to keep Johnny fed and a roof over his
head. They live in Bay Park, very run down part of the city in New York. The
buildings are all run down and graphite was the norm. The streets are littered
with trash and drug paraphernalia.
Neighborhood gangs are on every corner and police are afraid
to patrol the area. The police are never there unless something big comes up.
The people of the city are terrified to step outside their own home. Nancy
works multiple jobs in the hope of saving enough money so that they can move.
Johnny grew up in Bay Park a city just outside of New York
for 14 yrs. He is very grateful for all that Nancy have done for him. He is
fully aware of his background and he loves Nancy for adopting him and taking
care of him all these years. In a city full of drugs, gangs, and violence,
Johnny as grown up to be very humble for the little that he has.
Johnny is in high school and is top of this class. He is
very smart. He loves to create and explore things. His talent caught the eye of
a University science professor by the name of Dr. Hammons. Dr. Hammons is a
molecular scientist and he would always come with new inventions that would
help the human body to become faster, stronger, and immune to diseases. The
doctor would often invite Johnny to watch him as he conducts his research.
Johnny would learn a lot from watching the different project that the doctor
would do. Johnny hopes that one day to
use his knowledge of science to help out his city and get rid of all the crime,
gang, and drug activities that threatens the people of New York.
